About the service & assumptions

Szukam Korzeni is a service designed with a simple goal: let anyone quickly and freely check traces of ancestors in publicly available databases and digital libraries—no login, no paywall, no limits. This is our ASSUMPTION and the “FREE layer”: you choose a source, enter a name, and we give you handy search links and tips to narrow results (place, years, parish, call number).

What is FREE (no cost)

  • Access to a list of 40+ public sources (archives, digital libraries, indexes).
  • Search form with query suggestions (e.g., “Marianna Jasińska Płock 1811–1813”).
  • No limits and no fees: you open and review results in the source yourself.
  • Tips on interpreting entries, abbreviations, call numbers, and how to order copies from archives.

Note: results depend on digitization status and index quality in external databases.

Paid service PAID (Research + Report)

  • We do it for you: we manually search public and paid sources.
  • We verify discrepancies, check surname variants, parishes, time ranges, and contexts.
  • We deliver a PDF Report: source citations (call numbers, links, access dates), a timeline, and conclusions.
  • Where possible— we attach scans or instructions on how to legally obtain offline copies.
  • Standard turnaround time: up to 7 dni roboczych (w szczególnych przypadkach do 14 dni) from payment.

Nature of the service: best-effort basis (we do not guarantee to find a specific document; a negative report is possible if no traces are found).

Order research

What’s the difference between FREE and PAID?
  • FREE – we give you tools and direction to check sources at no cost.
  • PAID – we perform manual research, compare records, connect facts, and write up conclusions in the report.
  • In both modes you use the same sources—PAID adds our methodology and verification and the formal Report.

The Terms below clarify both modes: using the FREE oraz zamawiania i realizacji paid genealogical research together with delivery of the Report.

Definitions

  1. Service – the website available at szukamkorzeni.pl.
  2. Provider – Robert Arciszewski, prowadzący działalność gospodarczą [Discover IT], NIP 567 191 74 78, correspondence address: Aleja Krakowska 61, 00-001 Warszawa], e-mail: kontakt@szukamkorzeni.pl.
  3. Customer – a natural person (incl. consumer), legal person, or organization placing an order.
  4. Paid service – paid genealogical research and preparation of the Report.
  5. Raport – an electronic document (PDF) with search results, source citations, conclusions, and recommendations.
  6. Payment operator – an external provider (e.g., Stripe) handling online payments.

1. General provisions

  1. These Terms set rules for electronic services in the Service, including ordering and performing genealogical research.
  2. Using the Service requires internet access, a modern browser, and an active email address.
  3. By accepting the Terms, the Customer concludes a contract for electronic services with the Provider.

2. Scope and nature of services

  1. The service involves manually searching and compiling genealogical information using databases, state/church archives, digital libraries, special collections, and press.
  2. The result is a PDF containing—subject to source availability—a results summary, full citations (book/record numbers, links, access dates), brief analysis and conclusions, a timeline, online scans or instructions to obtain offline copies.
  3. The service is on a best-effort basis; the Provider does not guarantee finding a specific document nor a positive outcome (a negative report).

3. Contract and payments

  1. The contract is concluded by filling in the research form and paying for the order in the Service.
  2. The service price is generally PLN 299 gross per person, unless stated otherwise in the Service.
  3. Payments are processed in advance by the payment operator (e.g., Stripe Checkout). By using payments, the Customer accepts the operator’s terms.
  4. After payment, the Customer receives an automatic confirmation; an invoice can be issued upon request (by selecting “I want an invoice” and providing details).

4. Service delivery and timeline

  1. The standard time to prepare the Report is up to 7 dni roboczych (w szczególnych przypadkach do 14 dni) from payment being booked, unless stated otherwise or agreed individually.
  2. The Report is delivered electronically (PDF) to the email provided in the order.
  3. If delivery requires access to offline collections (e.g., archives), the Provider informs about timing and any external costs before they are incurred.

5. Withdrawal from the contract (consumers)

  1. The consumer has the right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days from its conclusion.
  2. The right of withdrawal does not apply, if the Customer agreed to start the service before 14 days and was informed of losing the right to withdraw (Art. 38(1) of the Consumer Rights Act).
  3. In the Service, performance starts when payment is successful and research data are provided—the payment checkbox includes the relevant statement.

6. Complaints

  1. Complaints are submitted via email to: kontakt@szukamkorzeni.pl (subject: “Complaint”) including your name, email, order/payment number, and a description of the issue.
  2. Complaints are processed within 14 days. If accepted, the Provider may supplement the Report, correct obvious errors, perform additional actions, or, when justified, refund part or all of the price.

7. Liability

  1. The Provider acts with due diligence but does not guarantee availability of specific sources/documents or uptime of external services; nor is liable for effects of incorrect data supplied by the Customer.
  2. The Provider’s liability is limited to the amount of the price paid for the given service, subject to mandatory law.
  3. The Provider is not liable for subsequent uses of the Report (e.g., in administrative, court, inheritance proceedings) or delays due to force majeure.

8. Copyright & license

  1. The Report (layout, analysis, research comments, graphs/visualizations) is a copyrighted work.
  2. The Customer receives a non-exclusive license for personal use (store, print, share with family). Publishing online or commercial use requires Provider’s consent (does not apply to short quotes with source).
  3. Rights to source materials may belong to third parties; the Report may include links instead of copies.

9. Personal data & communication

  1. The data controller is Robert Arciszewski (NIP 567 191 74 78).
  2. Data processing rules (purposes, bases, rights) are described in the Privacy Policy.
  3. Operational communication is via email; system messages may be generated automatically.

10. Payments, refunds & disputes

  1. Payments are handled by a payment operator (e.g., Stripe); using payments means accepting its terms.
  2. Refunds (if applicable) are processed via the same method where technically possible; otherwise by bank transfer.
  3. The Customer may use the ODR platform: ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
  4. Polish law applies to matters not regulated herein.

11. Technical requirements

  1. Current versions of major browsers are supported (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge—released within the last 2 years).
  2. The Report is delivered in PDF; a compatible reader is required to view it.
  3. The Service may use necessary technical cookies.

12. Changes to the Terms

  1. The Provider may change the Terms for valid reasons (changes in law/functionality, payment operators, security).
  2. The new version applies to contracts concluded after publication; earlier contracts remain under previous rules unless the Customer accepts the new version.

13. Final provisions

  1. The governing law is Polish law.
  2. Where not regulated, the Civil Code, the Act on Provision of Electronic Services, and the Consumer Rights Act apply.
  3. These Terms take effect on the date of publication on the Service.
